Tyler The Creator

Tyler The Creator Rap Artist

This is a digital painting of Tyler The Creator. I created this piece of rap art because Tyler is one of my favorite rappers of all time who I have I have been a huge fan of since I was in middle school, and I have seen him live in concert three times. In fact, I recently visited his GOLF WANG store on Fairfax Ave, and I saw him there.

This piece of rap art captures Tyler The Creator’s image, as he is seen rapping and yelling his trashy, foul-mouthed lyrics of his songs into the microphone, supposedly in front of a large audience. This was my first ever digital painting that I created of a music artist.

Upon close inspection, there are some areas where the picture looks fuzzy, because I did not use a fine tip brush and instead used a round brush when I created this image in Photoshop, and the reference image did not turn out to be a high-quality image. Even the brush strokes don’t look as smooth and clean as they can be. It may not be obvious at first, but the shadows that are supposed to indicate the folds in Tyler’s T-shirt don’t look enough like actual folds that you would see in clothing, and instead look more like scribbles or jagged lines. Also, the colors especially on his arms and face that indicate the highlights, shadows, tints and hues for his skin tones don’t blend together as much as they should, and can be much smoother and cleaned up even more.

It is not exactly known where and when the reference image used for this digital painting was taken, but all I know is I found it off the internet and thought it looked cool to use for my creation, which is why I used it.
